FileDeck

Frequently asked questions

Straight answers to the questions we hear most.

Is FileDeck really free?

Yes. Every tool is free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you process or how many edits you make. The site is supported by voluntary donations.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

Almost every tool runs inside your browser, so the file never leaves your device. The exceptions are the AI tools (AI Write, Summarize and Translate), which send the text you enter to an AI provider, and they tell you so before you run them.

Can I edit the text that is already in my PDF?

Yes. Open Edit PDF, click any line of text, picture or shape and change it. The original font, size, colour and position are kept, and the old content is removed from the file rather than just covered up. Scanned pages are pictures, so run OCR first to make their text editable.

Does it work with Bengali PDFs?

Yes. Bengali text is shaped correctly when you add it to a PDF, and PDF to Markdown pulls out proper Unicode Bengali text. Some very old PDFs use non-Unicode legacy fonts, which can limit what any tool can recover.

Will my PDF keep its layout after editing?

Pages you don't touch are left exactly as they were. On the pages you change, only the items you edit are rewritten, so the rest of the layout, fonts and images stay in place.

How large a file can I use?

There is no limit set by us. Because files are processed on your own device, the practical limit is your device's memory. Very large PDFs (hundreds of megabytes) can be slow on phones.

What kinds of tools are there?

PDF tools (edit, merge, split, compress, convert, sign, protect), image tools (resize, crop, compress, convert, effects, OCR), AI Write tools (paragraphs, rewriting, grammar, emails, social posts) and file tools (CSV, JSON, XML, Excel, ZIP, QR codes, hashes).

Do I need to install anything?

No. FileDeck runs in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS.

How do I report a problem or suggest a tool?

Use the Contact page. The form opens your email app with the message ready to send, and we read every message.
